Who are our Members?
Clare Myatt, LL.B., M.A., M.B.A.C.P., M.A.C. is an experienced clinician integrating decades of practice as therapist and coach, working with her clients from a somatic perspective.
After graduating with a law degree, Clare worked in human resources, moving to the US in 1987. She obtained licensure in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 1991 and became certified as a Master Somatic Coach with Strozzi Institute a decade later. Initially, she specialised in the treatment of addiction and trauma, contributing a chapter entitled The Power of Somatics in Sobriety to Being Human at Work by Richard Strozzi-Heckler, Ph.D., Founder of Strozzi Institute. She also worked with executives, couples, individuals and teams in Silicon Valley during the stressful dot.com era. Clare returned to her native UK in 2006, the first of Strozzi Institute’s MSC Associates beyond US shores.
Since her return, Clare has been working with clients in London, Birmingham and internationally via the web. Most are high functioning executives, couples, coaches and therapists, all keen to utilise her specialised somatic approach. This involves experiencing the body as more than a vehicle for the head - acknowledging the role our environment, community, family and internal landscape plays in shaping who we are and how we interact in the world. Somatic practitioners believe identity is synonymous with the body, that who we are is revealed in every nuance of movement and expression - even our underlying musculature deeply holds our identity, and, by definition, can be shifted with the right focus of attention and intention. She also provides training for clinicians in the embodiment of deep presence to enhance their practice with clients.
